An indictment unsealed Sunday in Ontario Superior Court charges a Toronto man with possessing child pornography, possessing sexually explicit material of a minor and making sexual material available.
If convicted of the most serious charges, David Richard Rice faces a potential five-year prison sentence on the possession charge and a maximum of two years for the other offences.
He was arrested by Vancouver police after a Canadian Border Services Agency officer investigating a case of suspected child exploitation last June in Vancouver uncovered alleged child pornography online, said Toronto police Detective Insp. Jack Pollock.
Rice is expected to appear in a Vancouver court Monday on charges of possessing child pornography, making available child pornography and possessing sexually explicit material of a minor.
He was not previously known to police for alleged child exploitation, Pollock said.
