Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder are “very friendly” and dated for several years in the early 1990s, Reeves’s ex-wife has said.
Elisa Gibbons, the actor’s third wife and mother to his eldest child, revealed the couple had spent that time in and out of civil partnerships but did not marry.
In an interview with Yahoo, Gibbons also claimed Ryder, now 42, played a role in her divorce.
“Winona is a sweetheart but this wasn’t something that was organised or planned,” Gibbons said. “It was really, I’d say, unfortunate. I think, ultimately, Winona played some role in my divorce. It just was unfortunate.”
Gibbons, a former model and actress, said their friendship was “excellent” and that their families were close too.
“So, yeah, Winona is very friendly,” she said. “I remember the holidays. The children were so little and we had to move, and we’d see each other all the time. We had a very friendly relationship.”
Ryder has not responded to Gibbons’s claims.
